The JT-60SA fusion reactor, the outcome of a joint project between the European Union and Japan, with the contribution of the Italian Government, companies, ENEA, CNR and RFX Consortium, is a new step forward in the research on nuclear fusion energy.
Ultraviolet treatment of fruit and vegetables to reduce the use of pesticides by 50% and boost their nutraceutical value and freshness is the objective of the ENEA research project "Ormesi", which envisages the design of a small remote-controlled robot to irradiate fruit and vegetables to increase their defense response and resistance to pathogens.

An ENEA tender for over 1 million euros is underway to fund proof of concept (PoC) projects with companies, an internal program for overcoming the gap between research and industrial application and supporting innovation in the production sector. Interested companies can apply until 12 December 2023, following the procedures described on the ENEA website, to participate in the development of a PoC project included in the 34 technological proposals identified by the Agency in various thematic areas, some of which suggested by the ENEA Technical Scientific Committee.
ENEA won 45 new projects last year which obtained 12.7 million euro funding from the European Commission, of which 55% covered by the Horizon 2020 framework programme, as outlined by the recently published report “ENEA contracts with the European Commission”, which also highlights ENEA's participation in 179 European projects in 2022, for a total funding of 50.3 million euros and the involvement of 1,500 partners.
