ENEA and University of Bologna, in collaboration with Hera Group and Irritec, have developed a technologically advanced prototype which uses purified wastewater for crop irrigation and fertilization, saving considerable amounts of water, providing nutrients which substitute chemical fertilizers and improving environmental sustainability and quality of the water purification chain.

The energy performance of housing in our country is slightly improving. According to the Annual Report on the Energy Certification of Buildings by ENEA and the Italian Thermotechnical Committee (CTI), in 2020 the energy performance certificates (APE) in the intermediate and lower classes decreased in the residential sector (-1.2% compared to 2019) to increase in the higher energy classes.

The first web platform to optimize tourist flows in Emilia-Romagna has been launched, helping local administrators and operators to better organize daily activities and prevent overcrowding in particular events. The platform was created as part of the industrial research project Polis-Eye, funded by the Region and the Development and Cohesion Fund and coordinated by GeoSmart Lab, in collaboration with ENEA (CROSS-TEC Laboratory of the Bologna Research Center), the universities of Bologna, Ferrara and Modena-Reggio Emilia and some local institutions and companies.
