Italy has 12.4 million residential buildings, of which over 60% built before 1976, the year in which the first law on energy saving was enacted; 1.7 million non-residential buildings (about 12% out of a total of 14 millions), mainly intended for production (19%), commerce (16%) and services (12%), as shown by the Report “The National Building Stock”, drawn up the ENEA Energy Efficiency Department in view of the actions necessary to meet the energy saving obligations set by the new EU directives.
At the start the International Workshop on SMR Safety for a Sustainable Short-term Deployment, organized by SASPAM-SA Horizon Euratom Project, taking place in France from October 17th to 18th 2024 and aimed at promoting international exchange of information and best practices related to light water Small Modular Reactor (SMR) safety, considering the outcomes from the current ongoing projects, other EU and international initiatives (IRSN Headquarters, 31 av. De la Division Leclerc, Fontenay-aux-Roses, France).
The ENEA biobank website is online, a large collection of microorganisms comprising over 1400 bacteria, fungi, yeasts, microalgae and plant viruses, useful for multiple applications in agriculture, the environment, cultural heritage, bioenergy, quality and safety food, health.
Developing a regulatory framework for the use of hydrogen in the maritime sector is the objective of the e-SHyIPS project, which has received European funding of over 400 thousand euro and in which Italy participates with ENEA, within the Atena consortium, together with Politecnico di Milano (coordinator) and Cineca for a total of 14 partners from 7 EU countries.
