Research: ENEA, the new technical-scientific council has taken office

The ENEA new Technical-Scientific Council (CTS), composed of four external members selected by a committee from among 69 candidates and two internal members elected by their fellow researchers and technologist, has taken office.

Chaired by ENEA President Francesca Mariotti to ensure a unified approach, the CTS provides strategic and advisory support for the Agency’s technical and scientific activities.

The four external members are: Massimiliano Atelli (associate professor of Administrative Law at Mercatorum University of Rome, former magistrate of the Court of Auditors); Gianfranco Caruso (full professor of Nuclear Power Plants and director of the Department of Electrical and Energy Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome); Silvia Grandi (public administration executive, professor of Political-Economic Geography at the University of Bologna); Anna Laura Pisello (full professor of Environmental Technical Physics at the University of Perugia). The two internal members are Arianna Latini (researcher at the ENEA Department of Sustainability, Circularity and Adaptation to Climate Change of Production and Territorial Systems) and Alberto Previti (researcher at the ENEA Nuclear Department).

The CTS stands out for its high scientific caliber and the breadth of its expertise, in line with the Agency’s strategic areas of activity. The significant representation of women (four out of seven) further demonstrates ENEA commitment to leveraging female expertise and fostering gender balance in top leadership roles.

“This appointment strengthens the ENEA technical-scientific governance system, focusing on high-profile expertise and a multidisciplinary approach to tackle the major challenges of research, innovation and sustainability” stated President Mariotti upon taking office.
