Energy: ENEA and IP together to innovate and tackle future energy challenges
First working meeting between ENEA President Mariotti and IP CEO Davitashvili to launch their collaboration in the energy sector and the production of energy carriers for transportation (hydrogen, e-fuels, biofuels)
The operational phase of the Memorandum of Understanding between IP and ENEA has begun, following a meeting at the ENEA headquarters in Rome, during which ENEA President Francesca Mariotti and IP CEO Levan Davitashvili, finalized the details of a strategic partnership in the fields of energy and sustainable mobility.
ENEA and IP will pool their technological expertise, strategic vision and industrial capabilities in the energy sector and the production of energy carriers for transportation (hydrogen, e-fuels, biofuels) to address future challenges through a collaborative approach and support the country’s decarbonization targets.
The areas of collaboration will include: analysis of energy scenarios and strategic intelligence; definition of sustainability and decarbonization trajectories; technological consulting and innovation to facilitate the transition; human capital development, including through specialized training; support for research and development by identifying areas of common interest for launching projects aimed at creating intellectual property and competitive advantage.
“The memorandum of understanding with IP allows us to make our technical and scientific expertise in the fields of energy and transportation available to a leading company in the sector. The primary objective remains to build a fully integrated and sustainable energy system, leveraging synergies between research and industry to create value, with a view toward the country’s sustainability and decarbonization” pointed out ENEA President Francesca Mariotti.
The four-year, renewable memorandum of understanding provides for the establishment of joint working groups comprising representatives from both parties who are experts in their respective fields. The initiatives will be formalized through specific implementation agreements, which will define activities, implementation methods, duration, resources and financial contributions, cost allocation and ownership arrangements for knowledge, acquired jointly or individually.
“The partnership with ENEA offers IP the opportunity to combine scientific expertise, industrial capabilities and strategic vision in support of the energy transition for mobility” said Levan Davitashvili, CEO of IP. “We are committed to contributing, once again and concretely, to the evolution of all transportation sectors by developing solutions supporting the decarbonization and competitiveness of the country and the industry”.
